All women need tampons, pads, or any other possible feminine hygiene products to help with their periods. However, these products aren’t easily available to everyone across the globe. For people that have easy access, these products greatly help manage some symptoms of periods. The total sales for feminine hygiene products in just the U.S. were $5.9 billion in 2017 and could reach $6.2 billion in 2020 and possibly $40 billion worldwide. Every single woman needs these products, and for people that don’t have them, we need to help. There is more awareness now about affording and accessing these products and that has led to more support for removing sales taxes from tampons
and other feminine hygiene products.
Not having these products can endanger the health and safety of many young women. They need these products to function comfortably throughout the day without worrying about their period. Many women take risks to be able to have these products and they shouldn’t have to do that for something that is a normal function of their bodies. The frequency of these products depends on a women’s cycle and her affordability of the products. Women who aren’t as educated on feminine hygiene products could have a bad experience using certain products. For example, they wouldn’t know which pads work better with heavy bleeding or maybe even how to wear a tampon. Wearing a tampon incorrectly can greatly affect our bodies such as with TSS. Toxic Shock Syndrome is a rare disease that can cause organ damage and possibly even death. Low education can lead to that and we need to make sure that all women have feminine hygiene products at easy access and the knowledge on how to use them.
Maintaining good feminine hygiene can prevent irritation and infections from occurring. Personally, I spend a lot of time on facial care and overall taking care of myself but for all women, sometime the most important areas are neglected. We have bacteria in our intimate areas that produces lactic acid. The acid prevents yeast which can cause infections. During our periods, it’s especially important to maintain healthy feminine hygiene to prevent odor. Using a daily feminine hygiene wash is better for our genital areas. Natural moisturizes derived from milk also help to reduce skin irritation. Knowing how to take care of our bodies is the most important part of all. It helps us live happy and healthy lives, even while dealing with our periods.
